Joelle (Registered Dietitian) - I am a mother of a girl and a boy and have worked as a Clinical Dietitian in hospitals for the past 10 years. Seven of those years were worked in a regional burn unit and I loved to see the way nutrition could impact the outcome of a patients recovery. Since having children, I became more interested about how good nutrition can impact the health and growth of children. I found my passion and started researching more about children's nutrition. Check out "Nutrition Tidbits" for current nutrition information, fun recipes or information on new products.
Mindy- I am a mother of two girls and have 15 years of experience in advertising and design. Even though I had a great job, I found that I needed to find a career that let me be flexible enough to spend time with my 3 year old and be home when my 7 year old gets home from school. This is how the idea for yumyumsnacks.com developed. Although I was always into fitness, healthy eating was not always a big concern for me until having children. Having a sister as a dietitian left me no choice but to learn about the dangers lurking in over-processed foods. As I learned more, I too became passionate about what my family was eating. Yum Yum Snacks became the obvious business for Joelle and I to start. We believe in what we are selling 100% and have designed a web-site that we would love to shop at. Hopefully our customers will feel the same way too.
Special Thanks
There are many people that have helped us to get our business started that we'd like to thank. Both of our husbands are entrepreneurs. Joelle's husband, Ritch is in the Printing/Computer industry therefore able to provide us with much needed technical help. Mindy's husband, Joe, has his own residential and commercial air duct cleaning business, www.airqualitycontrollers.com. We were able to benefit from his knowledge as a business owner. Our mother (Nonna) and father (Grampa Fred) became our personal business consultants. Thanks for helping us watch the kids Nonna! We'd also like to thank our mom for the work she does with the Farm Sanctuary Organization, www.farmsanctuary.org, a non-profit organization that's dedicated to ending farm animal abuse.
We were fortunate enough to have had some excellent business advice from a female point of view from our cousin Lisa Smith who is quite the entrepreneur. Her business ventures include www.weloveyourhome.com and www.sunsorproducts.com. Our good friend Jeanie Brown who owns Image Marketing, www.imagemktg.com, also gave us great advice and support. Thank you to Lisa Liljegren who is a good friend and a PR and Event Planning Diva. She has one creative thought after another, after another. Lastly another special friend, Sharon Evers, who was so kind to lend her talents and patience to do the photos of us and our kids for the web-site. We truly appreciate all the friends and family that have been there for us!
