What does Yum Yum Snacks consider healthy?
We firmly believe that products cannot be considered healthy if they contain genetically engineered ingredients. Therefore, we consider all natural/organic products to be healthy. Preferably they would also be high in fiber and protein.
What are "counterfeit" health foods?
Popular, big brand foods that market themselves as "healthy", but the ingredients and labels say otherwise. For instance, most granola bars, have you checked out the ingredients? There's no way they can be considered heathy! Some of the worst counterfet foods are: granola bars, graham crackers, bagged popcorn, most popular crackers, pudding, Gelatin, non-organic yogurt in a tube, rainbow colored fish crackers, etc...how much time do you have, I could keep going and going and going.
How does Yum Yum Snacks choose their snacks?
Every snack on this site has been tasted by the two owners and their combined 4 kids. If we don't like it, we don't sell it !!!
How do the prices on this site compare to those at the stores?
Yum Yum Snacks are priced at Suggested Retail Pricing per the manufacturer. It will cost about the same as at the store. But what you will save is time. Time spent going to various stores to get the variety we offer plus time saved of having to read labels. We also allow our customers to purchase snacks in smaller quantities, not per case like most online stores. And let's not forget gas money. Ouch!
Why not just go to the store to buy snacks?
Our Registered Dietitian goes to many different sources to obtain the snacks we carry. Very few people have access to really large Health or Organic stores that can offer the kind of variety we can. Plus, what could be more fun than receiving a big box of snacks delivered to your door?
Why are most of the snacks single serve?
Everybody is so busy these days. As busy parents, we found that the hardest things to find were good, healthy, convenient snacks. Especially for our children. And when we did find them, they were not convenient to just grab and go. After much research, we found that there were so many more options available than could be found at most grocery stores. With chilhood obesity on the rise, single serve snacks limits the portion size. No more super-sizing!
What's the story on shipping?
Most retail websites up the cost on products so that they can entice consumers with lower shipping rates. Yum Yum Snacks does not inflate prices to cover shipping costs.
What if I have picky children?
Keep trying! Kids in particular want to eat food that's familiar to them. There cannot be a junky alternative. Believe us, if the choice is a healthy cookie without hight fructose corn syrups or nothing, they are going to choose the cookie. It's the old "take it ot leave it" trick. They take it almost every time. It doesn't take kids long to catch on to trying a new snack or getting nothing. Generally, it's the parents that are most resistant and not wanted to give up their favorites.
Why should I pay more for Organic or Natural foods?
All of us need water, air and food to live. So, what could be more important than having clean water, clean air and nutritious food to fuel our bodies? There is nothing more important than your health and your families health. That $75 pair of designer jeans will make its way to the garbage some day. But the gentically modified ingredients may just stay floating in our bodies forever. Food was never intended to be mass produced this way. Other countries are actually studying the health of American children for many years before allowing their country to use genetically modified ingredients. With the rise in Diabetes, Cancer, food allergies, ADD, Autism etc, we can't afford not to do what we can.
Does Yum Yum Snacks sell wholesale?
No. Currently we do not. This is a question we receive quite often as there are so few resources for businesses to offer healthy options to their patrons or employees. We have added Guilt-Free Vending per the large demand for our products at the workplace.
