I have two kids ages 4 and 7. They are very set in their ways in what they want to eat. They both eat some fruits but only 1-2 vegetables, I know they should be eating more fruits and vegetables. They of course love junk food and sugar cereals. My question to anyone is, how do you start your kids off with a whole new way of eating? I have been thinking about switching to more natural foods for a while but not sure what step I should take first.Should I try and sneak it into their lunches or meals and see if they notice?
If anyone has went through this with their children, feel free to share some ideas. One thing is for sure, I am going to start buying healthier foods for our family whether they like it or not as it sounds like most foods out there are full of artificial things which can't be good. I like the information on the website, if my kids were older, I would make them read it.
Hi Christin, I went through the same thing. First, I learned how to read labels & figured out which ingredients i wanted to stay away from, which were High Frustose Corn Syrups & Hydrogenated Oils. Then I read labels at the grocery store. Yes, it takes longer, but it doesn't take long to know which products are deccent. The reason I like to buy organic is because I don't have to read labels. I know that there's no crap in it. The other thing is to just not offer those "bad" foods. Give your kids 2-3 choices, but make them decent. I'ts tough when they're at school, because everyone wants to feed your kids candy, cookies, etc. So, that's why I try to do really good at home.
my son is now 38 and has changed some. it used to be pizza, prime rib, or cheeseburgers. i would try some of these foods on fancy glass plates and cute napkins. get their minds on something else rather than what the food is. if they see their friends trying something new they should join in.
