I was wondering if you guys have ever heard of Zbar by CLIF and if you have what you thought of it? Does the fact that Zbar is made by Clif, an energy bar company make you reluctant to give it to your kids? http://www.clifbar.com/zbar/about.cfm I am a graduate student at San Diego State University and am doing a marketing project on Zbar. I really like this website and all the information it has given me and would really appreciate your thoughts and feedback. Thank You!

Thank you for your inquiry. I am familiar with this product and while it meets standards for children on fat, sat. fat and sugar per SB-19 policy, I want to make sure that all the soy used was organic and was curious to the amount of grams of soy in the bar. I contacted the company and am waiting to hear back. While soy (Organic) soy is part a of a healthy diet, I just want to make sure the bar was not too high in soy. It is recommened not to consume more than 25 grams soy/day for adults. I am trying to find data that suggests a safe amount for children. I will post a response as soon as I hear from the companies Dietitian.

"Q: What makes CLIF ZBaR different than other kids snacks? CLIF ZBaRs are baked whole grain energy bars made with only natural ingredients. 95% of them are organic, including organic oats, peanut butter, apples and chocolate chips. CLIF ZBaR offers lower fat and sugar levels than those in many kids' snacks available today. Also, it was the first product designed specifically to meet California's Senate Bill 19 guidelines to encourage healthy eating and active lifestyles in today's kids."The FAQ Section(which I am sure you have already seen) states the bar is 95% organic, which still leaves the possibility that the soy, or part of it could not be organic. Our group has contacted Clif and they were very nice and helpful. I hope they are the same way with you. ------------------------------------ On an unrelated note, what do you guys think of the packaging? http://www.clifbar.com/zbar/chocolate.cfm http://www.clifbar.com/zbar/img/chocolate_bars2.gif Our class and professor didn't like it but a low percentage were actually moms. Thank you for your quick response Joelle!

The customer service at Clif Bar was very prompt. After I reviewed the ingredients, I think they are a very healthy bar for kids with not an excess amount of soy. We may even look into carrying them on our web site (we would all have to taste test them first). As far as the packaging, I liked it, easy to read, cute graphics for all age groups and nice colors. Hope I was able to help your project.

Thanks a bunch Joelle. It is informative for our project to receive feedback from moms. I was also interested in hearing from other people outside of Southern California. Organic and natural foods are becoming a major trend and as it becomes more popular for adults it will naturally (and has) move to kids. I liked the packaging too! Our professor thinks it should be redesigned though.
