I just had to post this on our website as I was FURIOUS!! The other day, it was someone's birthday at preschool and 2 huge boxes of Krispie Kreme donuts were brought in by the parent. What is going on ? How about homemade muffins or fruit or cheese and crackers. Even a homemade cupcake with homemade frosting would be understandable. I do realize people are busy these days but there are many quick alternatives! It is time to make time for healthier foods and snacks for the health of our kids!

I have to agree with you - I have no idea what is going on with some parents. On April 14 I took my 6-year old son to a Good Friday service at my church for young children. (Preschoolers through early elementary - some even younger.) One parent was put in charge of snacks, and instead of bringing something healthy (!!!) she brought two trays of frosted cookies, one package of apple turnovers, and a sheetcake-sized cross made of cupcakes, all purchased from Super Wal-Mart. Yuck! This gathering was at 9:00 in the morning, too, and my son was literally so jumpy after the snack that I couldn't take him to get his Easter haircut right after like I planned. Thanks for the opportunity to vent, and I'm glad there are options out there!
