A milk allergy is when the body has an immune response to a milk protein. Milk, dairy and casein need to be avoided with a milk allergy. A product may claim to be non-dairy but could have trace amounts of milk proteins. Ingredient labels must be read carefully. For more information on milk allergies visit www.foodallergy.org.
Lactose intolerance is not an allergy. It is intolerance to the milk sugar called lactose. Some persons with a lactose intolerance avoid dairy product like milk and ice cream but can tolerate other dairy products like cheese and yogurt. Each person has to find out which dairy products can cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, gas, bloating and/or diarrhea. It's by trial and error to figure out which (if any) dairy products can be tolerated and in what amount. For your ease we have listed natural and organic snacks that are dairy-free stated on the label. Other products we sell do not contain dairy but state "may contain traces".
